Artist Statement

In actuality I do not really think art should be expressed through language or writing. It is ridiculous that an artist is required to use text to explain his or her artwork. I for one am A firm believer in art speaking for itself. Being Naturally soft spoken, art was and will always be my creative outlet.Yet fully aware of the value of being able to verbalize your concepts when the occasion calls for it. Art is if not a part of the collective,it is ingulfed in it. We as individuals are surrounded by art,in paintings ,photographs sculpture, its intwined in every aspect of our society. It is something that has no explanation but is pure impulse. Like squinting your eyes in the sun, I think art just comes naturally. When asked who I am, a photographer and an artist are what come to mind. At every new click of the camera there is always a warm memory attached. There is something quite wonderful about capturing a certain time in life and holding it in your hands forever. They say people can speak with their eyes but I believe art is unsurpassable. It holds more thoughts, ideas, and beliefs than words could ever express. I have learned how to utilize my artwork in order to be heard. As well as, learning to nurture my pieces into more than just two-dimensional images, but works with weight and depth. I try to achieve a sense of motion and time with my pieces, as well as experimenting with some form of progression whether it is successive or developmental. My pieces focus mainly on the exploration of my own unconscious and myself. I utilize color, design, and composition to express my moods and thoughts in a way that is visually pleasing. Yet at times the goal in my work can be to contort and mangle my figures through collaging or the process of double exposing in the darkroom. I try to concoct new ideas for expressing the simplest act in an intense and unpredicted way. I truly take pleasure in collaging and developing artist books. They become outlets for creating intimate pieces that can become interactive.
